I am headed to Berlin for a month and am hoping to find a one-month shared apartment rental when I get there. However, I want to be sure I have a back-up that won't cost me a fortune if I can't find a room rental that will work for me. Therefore, I am considering the various hostels in Berlin. Having had very mixed experienced in hostels in other countries, I'm interested to know about your personal experiences staying at a hostel in Berlin. ** If you post a reply, please tell me the name of the hostel and what year you were there. ** My budget is 400euro for the 4-week period from August 14 to Sept 10, so I feel hostels or a room rental in a shared apartment are my only options. I am open to whatever other suggestions you have, though! Thanks very much.
I stayed at the East Seven hostel in August of 2013 and highly recommend it. It's been rated as the best hostel in Germany. Spotlessly clean, excellent service, and one block from a U-bahn station.
Thanks, Tim. It looks great. I appreciate the info!
Hi,
First, I don't have the hostel experience in Berlin about which you are asking, only in Munich and Vienna. Still, I can tell you that the newer hostels are located in the eastern section of Berlin. Around Berlin Alexanderplatz and U-Bahn stop Rosenthalerplatz are some of these hostels. Wombat hostel is well recommended, I've stayed there in Vienna and Munich, consistently excellent service, etc. I would assume the same applies to that in Berlin.
www.easyhotel.com has rooms starting from €25 with advance booking, which is not much more than a hostel.
