Hiking in the east/Berchtesgaden??

Hi everyone. My husband and I are flying into Prague but then making our way around Germany.

We are spending time in Prague, then going to Berlin, then to the Rhine Valley. After the Rhine Valley area, we have ~5 days before we go to Munich for Oktoberfest.

We were thinking of stopping in Fussen for Neuschwanstein Castle and 1 night nearby (is that worth it??). Then continuing on to the Berchtesgaden area to do some hiking. We'd like to do some serious day hikes (preferred) or a short 2 night backpacking trip. Likely see the Eagles Nest (again - worth it? Or better ideas?) And see any other awesome things in the area.

Any suggestions? On areas to go? Specific hikes? Anything? :)

We will have a car.

Thanks!

I always wanted to do a hike like this around the Königssee. Unfortunately my age and physical ability will probably keep me from it.

We liked hike #9 from the Jennerbahn middle station and flagged down a boat on the Königssee to St. Bartholomæus. Maybe this is not challenging enough though. Click on the Wanderkarte here to enlarge the map.
