Hikes near Cochem

Has anyone hiked the trail from Karden to Burg Eltz? Also has anyone hiked the trail near Bullay that they say is the steepest vineyard in Europe? Thanks for any information!

Have only hiked between Moselkern and Eltz myself. Steepest vineyard: you must be referring to the Calmont in Bremm. No, but I have enjoyed the hiking further upstream and just across the river from Bullay... the Prinzenkopf lookout, Burg Arras, and the Maraienburg are nice destinations:

I've been to the top of Calmont a few times, the first time way before there was an official trail. Only once have I done the Edmund Hillary route, with the ropes and ladders, starting in Bremm.

Using the train? I don't know if there is a short cut or not from the train station in Ediger-Eller (on the Eller side) to the trail. If not, walk down to the main road, turn right under the bridge and you'll come to the start of the trail. After a ways up the path splits in three (?) directions, all labelled, of different duration. A full loop can get you to the top and down without using the ropes and ladders section. One of my favourite views on my travels was a sea of billowy white clouds fron the top of Calmont.

There are trails everywhere around Cochem and further afield.
