Hey Friends! Heading back to Germany in late August

Hey guys,

I was here in late May during my first trip to Germany. You guys helped me so much and I had such a good time that I'm heading back next month. I feel like Germany is my second country, haha. I feel such a connection with the country. Just thought I'd check in and let you guys know I'm heading back. If any of you are here that helped me last month I want you to know that you're awesome and I'm heading back to the Berlin area with a friend. I probably should have went to Munich this time as I went to Berlin last time but I just loved Berlin so much and my friend has never been to Germany so I thought it was best to head back to Berlin. I don't need much excuse really. I think the comfort factor played a big part as well. I kind of know my way around the area now. I will keep you all posted as I get closer to departure as to what exactly we're planning on doing. I already booked the flights and hotel though.

Talk to you soon!

No, you don't need any excuse, just get back to Berlin. It can done by night train too to give you an extra day, ie night train from Munich, or Vienna ( a different route from Wien Hbf). Taking the S-Bahn in getting around is easy, keep in mind certain stations ar junction stations...Ostkreuz, Bahnhof Friedrichstrasse, Berlin Hbf, Alexanderplatz, Ostbahnhof, Westkreuz, and there is construction going on, which means you'll have to deviate the route.

Only get a rental car if you intend on diving to the outlying areas of Groß-Berlin, such as seeing the Brandenburg villages (no English there, use your German). I suggest along with the sights in Mitte see also Köpenick, Karlshorst, and Spandau. If you are there on a Sat and/or Sun, go to the Open Market; from Bahnhof Friedrichstrasse by taking the Georgenstrasse exit, walk straight up and you'll run into it., ca 20 mins walk.

Hi,

"I thought it best to head back to Berlin." Where do you plan on staying in Berlin? I would suggest staying close to a S-Bahn station for lateral transport between west and east. That's what I do, since if you're into the history, historical Berlin is east of the Brandenburg Gate. On access to the city: the discount carriers go to Berlin as do night trains from Munich, Vienna, Budapest, Strasbourg (change at Offenburg)
