First time travelers heading to Germany for a Boat/Bike trip for the first week and three days in Freiburg and 5 days in Murren, Switzerland. Didn't want to have to get two passes and are completely confused. Rail from Frankfort to Koblentz then, after 8 days on boat, train to Freiburg, then train to Interlaken, to Murren. We will access a couple cable cars, trams, etc. while there. Then train to Zurich to head home. Any suggestions??
A bit more information would be helpful.
Are there just two of you? When does this trip happen? Where do you end up at the end of your boat/bike trip? And are you traveling right away from that location to Freiburg?
A railpass is probably unnecessary for Germany. You can buy the ticket to Koblenz on the spot (this is a regional train trip of roughly 1.5 hours, probably direct.) Koblenz has different stations; providing your hotel address will make advice more accurate.
Download the DB Navigator app for Germain train info. Use the correct spelling for the cities you will be in, otherwise you could end up in a different part of the country: Frankfurt to Koblenz, Koblenz to Freiburg.
You could get a Eurail pass, but they are not always the best option. Price out your German rides, then download the SBB Mobile app for train info. Price out your journeys, but know that the app ASSUMES that you have the Half Fare Card, so you need to double the prices to see the actual cost. Look into the Jungfrau pass for your time in Murren. Consider buying Day Saver passes for the journeys to/from Murren.
