Help with travel between Munich and Vienna! How much time is needed for airports?

Hello!
I'm looking at a trip from the USA to Austria/Germany in mid-July. The initial part of the trip, we're taking the train from Munich to Vienna, which I'm excited about!
For the trip back, if our flight leaves Munich at 9:10am, I'm trying to find the best way to make the trip back from Vienna. I see the recommendation to arrive 3 hours early for an international flight.

I did see a flight from Vienna to Munich that arrives in Munich at 7:30am. Is that enough time to make it to our international flight at the same airport?
Or should I be looking at coming in the night before and staying a night in Munich?

I have traveled internationally before, but never in Europe, and I'm super nervous about messing everything up! Thanks for your help!

Your flight is at 9 AM? No question, get there the night before. You're on an international flight and have hurdles to clear before boarding. The Hilton is literally in the airport so that's the easiest option, or stay in town near the train station and take the first train to the airport (about 45 minutes).

I think that for your plan you should not book a return to Munich, but an open jaw, out to Munich and back from Vienna. Solves all your issues.

Get to Munich the night before. During my career I traveled extensively in/out of Frankfurt and often saw weather delays at departure cities cause travelers to miss their commenctions in Frankfurt.

Also, if going 2nd class on the train, reserve a seat. It's worth the few Euros it will cost.
