Help with transportation Ljubljana, Slovenia to Munich

Trying to decide best way to go from Ljubljana, Slovenia to Munich. I am wondering if the scenery will be nice, and a land trip is preferable, and less expensive than flying? Time is not an issue. It looks like the train is 6 hours 20 minutes, with lots of stops. There is also a bus that is an hour shorter, and it looks like you end up in the same general area in Munich. Have never used the bus in Europe for city to city transit. Is this a good option? Could also check on one way car rental. Anyone have experience on this? Also interested in good central Munich hotel suggestions. Prefer good location to center, comfortable and reasonable price under those circumstances! Thanks for any help!

The one-way international drop charge will make car rental cost-prohibitive for this trip. I used the bus in 2015 and it was fine. I think I dozed off and on during the trip; I don't remember the scenery, but I assume it is very nice.

Have you considered an overnight stop in Salzburg to break up the train trip?

We did the train from Munich to Ljubljana with an overnight in Salzburg. It was a nice way to break up the trip. From Salzburg to Ljubljana we were engaged in a fascinating conversation with a woman telling us about her and her family’s experiences during WWII and the post war years. The scenery was very beautiful but I only caught glimpses since I did not want to miss any details of this woman’s story.

There are three comfortable direct trains from Ljubliana to Munich per day, and I'd prefer them over the buses any time. The shorter travel time of the bus is purely theoretical, given the many opportunities for a decent stau along the motorways. Beautiful alpin and pre-alpin scenery along the entire route as far as Rosenheim (70km east of Munich).

That's to everyone for the informative input. I think the train sounds like our best option. We enjoyed several days in Salsburg in the past, this time I think we will go straight to Munich. Ready for a visit to the Hofbrau House, and we love going to what we call the Chinese beer garden in the English Garden in Munich!
