Help with hotel in Feising near Munich airport

I had some wonderful advice about Hotel Zur Gred but I can't get any response from the hotel after several emails, I understand there may be a language barrier and the hotel is not on a " hotel " website.

I have also checked Hotel Bayerischehof, very nice , but in the $ 200 range, not wanting to spend that much $.

Does anyone have any recemendations in Freising or close by, not really want to stay at the airport.

Thanks so much.

That is awfully high. There must be some special event, or the time frame might be too short and they only have expensive suites left.

If you have a car, Landshut is only 35 minutes from the airport and a delightful town. I just checked HRS.Com and they had multiple listings for later this month but the exact date might the problem. We stayed at the Himmel Cafe this spring and it was very good. I would check out HRS.Com and see what is available, even if you decide to google and contact one of the hotels directly. Their rating system is based on customers that have stayed at the hotels and we have found them to be in line. Our pictures from the spring:

There are several trains per hour from Landshut to Freising Bahnhof, from which there are regular buses to the airport. Two trains per hour make the trip in 19-21 min.

If you are not looking for a place during Oktoberfest, it's only about 40 minutes from town to the airport. You might be able to find something in town.

Lee and Gary , thank you again for your help. I did get a reservation at Hotel Cafe Himmel on Oct 8th for about $130, more in the range we were looking for.
We really wanted to stay in Freising based I think on one your recemendations to visit Welhenstephan, the oldest operational brewery in the world, wanted to enjoy and walk back to hotel. We will look into a train back and forth.

Thanks again.

If you want to visit a brewery, then Weihenstephens is a very nice local. If you want a good bier to drink, have supper at the Augustiner an der St. Martins Kirche in the middle of Landshut. (Reservations may be necessary.) Augustiner is a quite wonderful bier. Landshut is a prettier stop than Freising to my tastes. It might make all this hassle worthwhile.

You could also stay in nearby Erding. Nothing really special, just an attractive town. I've stayed at Hotel Mayr-Wirt. Not a bad place to sleep, as long as you don't plan to spend any significant time in the rather plain rooms. The main reason to stay in Erding, though, is the proximity to the fabulous Therme Erding, which sits a little to the outside of the town. If your trip is later this year, they're building an on-site hotel, which is supposed to open sometime in the autumn.
