Help - Train Canceled

I received an email from DB that my train has been canceled. From looking at the schedule, it appears there is construction happening on Dec 1, since all trains now listed between Nurnberg and Berlin are taking an hour longer.

I have a super-saver, first class ticket for the canceled train.

Is it possible to get a refund? If so, on-line?
Is it possible to book another train for a different route on-line?
Is it possible to book another train for the same route on-line?

Any assistance is appreciated.

It will probably be easier for others to assist if you tell us your travel date.

If your train is cancelled you should be able to rebook to a train that is not cancelled.

Sorry. I read right past that. The Deutsche Bahn website shows tickets available on a lot of trains that day (six between 8 AM and noon alone), so it certainly looks as if you'll be able to get from Nurnberg to Berlin by rail. There's an informational flag on the 3:27 PM departure, stating that it will run about 100 minutes late in Erfurt due to construction between Nurnberg and that city.

You can take a look at the current schedule for December 1 here: https://www.bahn.com/en. I don't know what DB's procedure is for dealing with canceled trains, but I bet there's a way to get a refund if you want. There must be a way either to get a refund or switch to a different train. I've never had that happen in Germany; when my train was canceled in France, I was sent to the information counter at one of the Paris stations and they took care of me. I don't remember having to pay any fare adjustment, but I may have been on a regional train rather than a TGV.

In 2008, I had one of the advance purchase, train specific (at that time called Dauer-Spezial) tickets from Walkenried, a small town south of the Harz, to Karlsruhe. The first leg was a regional train to where I would catch an IC to Karlsruhe. For some unknown reason, the regional train sat for half an hour in one of the small stations on the way to the IC, causing me to miss it. I went to the ticket counter at the station and showed the clerk my Dauer-Spezial ticket. He looked up the regional train on his computer and saw that it had, indeed, been delayed. He wrote the number of the next long-distance train to Karlsruhe, an ICE, on my ticket, and I took that train.

He did this in accordance with the AGB, which says that if you miss a specific train because of a fault of the Bahn, they will put you on the next available train. So, I am quite sure that if you go to the station in Nürnberg and present your ticket, they will accommodate you. The only problem I foresee is that, I believe, first class tickets come with seat reservation, and Nürnberg to Berlin might be a busy line with full trains. You might not be able, at a late date, to get a seat on the train you want. Are you registered with the Bahn? If so, you might be able to go on their website now to rectify the problem. If not, I think there is still an email address, to which you can write, shown on their website.
