We will be arriving by train to Ascheffenberg on a Saturday at the end of August and need to arrange for a taxi to take us to the barge docking area. I don't remember ever taking a taxi and am not even sure how to arrange for one. Since we'll be flying in that morning into Frankfurt and will be taking the train as soon as we get through immigration, is it ok to call for one once we arrive in town or should we do this way ahead? I don't know yet where we'll be docked, just that the tour company said we would need a taxi. I don't speak any German, if that may end up an issue? Thanks.
There is a taxi stand at the train station. The touring company should give you an address of where they are docked that you can print and show a taxi driver.
There are taxis at the train station. You do not need to arrange one before you arrive.
Have the address written down to show the driver, though most taxi drivers will speak enough English to be helpful. Use Google translate on your phone if needed.
For translations to / from German I recommend DeepL app instead of Google translate.
Thank you for your replies. I feel much better knowing that I can deal with it once we arrive at the station:)
