Excellent! I’m flying on the night of October 3 to FRA and while I will probably wear the mask anyway, it’s wonderful to know it’s not mandatory.
Great news! I am booked on flight to Frankfurt which I was considering changing to Paris to avoid German mask mandate. Now I can proceed without hassle of flight changes.
I'll just keep my mask on regardless, thank you very much.
Uhg.. flying to Frankfurt on the 19th god I wish the change was before that… really not looking forward to wearing one Vancouver - Frankfurt uhgggg…
Two choices. You either like this or you don’t. There are bound to be many people with each point of view. Personally, I liked the mask mandate on my recent 11 hour flight to Germany. The bottom line is that it continues to be up to each individual to make choices that help that individual remain healthy.
If I were flying over now, I would still keep the mask for the 11 hour flight SFO to FRA....no problems.
Here in SF the mask mandate on the city bus system is no longer in effect, but rather "recommended". Regardless, I would say at least 90% of the passengers on any given bus ride are masked. I take the buses daily.
I recently visited the airports in Austin, Amsterdam and Budapest. I paid a bit of attention to mask wearing on the plane and in the airports. Not even 1% of the people were wearing masks and among those who were, a substantial number were not wearing them correctly. So if you aren't comfortable being around unmasked people under those conditions, you might want to reconsider travel. In Budapest at least, inside or outside, crowded or not; very rarely did I see someone wearing a mask. Again.....
Well yea, the Canadian regulations make zero sense considering we’ve been going to hockey games in indoor settings with 20,000+ people maskless but we have to wear a mask with 80 people on a 2 hour flight.
Planes have some of the best filtering period, As an above post has said, if you’re gung-ho about wearing a mask on a plane, scientifically you should be wearing it -everywhere-
A 2 hour flight is like a 12 hour+ drive. Maybe we can just start to act normally like the rest of the world.
Germany’s Health Minister has recently commented that he may decide to bring back a more comprehensive mask mandate this fall as he anticipates increased Covid numbers for various reasons.
Thankful that Canada still requires it. Managed a flight to Paris in May with an N95 mask on and it was quite okay.
Have been in Germany for a week now and masks are completely non-existent other than where absolutely required, trains, some museums etc.
Large gatherings in restaurants, large wine tastings inside cellars, etc. no one is wearing a mask. Thank god.
Interestingly, no actual news organizations is talking about a mask mandate on trains. Schengenvisainfo is not a news site. It is a site that sells visa services.
If anyone has a link to a real news site regarding this, I'd appreciate it.
Look up the website of the DB: https://www.bahn.com/en/booking-information/corona
We are flying into Munich October 7th
I am sorry to hear that mask mandates are planning to be dropped on their flights - though rules can / will continue to change as people get sick
We got our Moderna Bivalent Vaccine September 9th and will wear a mask on the flight.
Our RS people follow the common sense rule to have people mask when inside and to show a covid free test within 24 hours of our first gathering & to show the updated covid vaccine card
Restaurant seating is suppose to be outside & or well ventilated – of course this is likely to not always be possible
Seems silly to pay for an expensive trip without following as much prevention as possible
Just finished a 2-week combined work/vacation trip. On the outgoing leg (Chicago to Frankfurt), the mask expectation was announced at the gate and they wouldn't let you board without a mask. I found it odd that masks were only required to board and almost no one wore them for the entire flight. On the way back to the US, there was no mask requirement in the Frankfurt airport or to board our return flight to the US. The only other German mask requirement was on trains (better than 99% compliance) and for some tours/museums. Burg Eltz for one was turning people away if they didn't have a mask.
