Germany Munich to London train & tube vs. airplane?

We will likely take train from Paris to Munich but must fly home out of London. Any suggestions/advice on Munich to Paris by train then the tube to London vs. flying from Munich to London?

I'd say fly to London the day before your flight home to make sure you don't miss that return flight. As a separate ticket, you are not protected if there is a delay in your Muinich-London flight.

Chuck, the 'tube' is the common name for the London Underground system (métro). It certainly does not run from Paris to London.
High Speed trains, branded as 'Eurostar', run between Paris and London.

But, I agree with Sam's advice. Munich to London is a long way and if you do not wish to stop anywhere en route it is better done by air. Under no circumstances miss your flight out of London. A pity you couldn't get a direct flight out of Munich.

I'd try to fly from Paris to Munich and another flight to London. Distances are greater than you think on those routes. An hour flight beats losing a full day on a train. Right now, Lufthansa flys to Munich, and they're usually not inexpensive flights.

You can fly on Transavia France from Paris Orly to Munich after 9/15/2015 and on EasyJet to one of three London area airports.

Hi,

Keep in mind that the night train (CNL) Munich to Paris direct is no longer operating...unfortunately. If you go by day, [edited] you usually make one connection.

Both trains and flights within Europe typically make their cheapest tickets offers for those who plan ahead. Best price for the Paris-Munich reserved trains go on sale 3-4 months ahead through the DB German Rail link that we also use for train schedules. Currently, the only direct Paris-Munich trains appear to be timed for German business travelers, departing Munich at 6:25 a.m. and departing from Paris at 15:25.

But I would not return the same way, since the Eurostar ticket adds a minimum of about $65 more in 2nd class (and fares go way up from there, with limited seats at each price point). Flights are available for booking further out; see www.skyscanner.com for more airlines. There's always something to see on a layover day in London.
