Germany France or Iceland - 7 days

Hi,

We have 11 days vacation coming up out of which 3 days (towards the end) will have to be Amsterdam. We are a couple and no kids. We love doing activities and adore being surrounded by greens, flowers, beautiful sites. We are not interested in museums or too much of history.

We haven't been able to decide where to spend the 7 days, Germany, France or Iceland. We wold love to spend time in picturesque, beautiful towns/villages or cities.

France, we have been to only Paris and Germany, we have been to Ebsiee. We haven't been to Iceland.

Would love the help of the experience community here to help us plan an itinerary for either Germany, France or Iceland, whichever you think will have more of that.

Our vacation starts on the 2nd of June and need to do booking in next few days.

Early help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

I would choose Bavaria given the list of interests that you expressed. Lots to do with a mixture of cities and towns. Beautiful Alps. You can't go wrong.

I would not go to Iceland. I don't think you will find the villages/towns vibe you are looking for.

A lot of the chateaus in the Loire area of France have gardens and the area is easily reached from Paris.

Thanks Markk,

German Alpine Road, what do you recommend that we see in 7 days without rushing, same with the the Romantic Route. The scenic routes has 150 options, what do you suggest?

I think that you wont go wrong with any of the suggestions you have received. I tend to plan ahead a bit more than this, so I am a little nervous about your ability to find accommodations at all of these places. Perhaps pick a top runner from the suggestions and then see what is available for the dates you are interested in.

Munich , Garmisch Partenkirchen are great options.

I agree with @Carol - you need to pick somewhere, and quick, and nail down your hotels ASAP before they are gone. Tourism in Europe is way up and hotels can and do sell out.

Iceland is great if you are into nature. If you fly Iceland Air, I believe it offers a free stayover. Still, you only have a week. You can spend a week in Iceland, but you might prefer Europe.

Since you are going to be in Amsterdam, you could choose to do Brugges and Brussels (a day each) then head to Luxembourg for a couple of days. Lux city and Viaden are great places to visit. Nearby Trier, Germany is nice. then on to the German Rhineland.
