Germany/Austria/Switzerland/Greece - Train help

Posted seeking itinerary help previously, but refined based on feedback from the forums (THANK YOU!).

I'm hoping now our itinerary is practical... but the train options, scheduling, and comparison pricing is overwhelming given the multi-country itinerary and excursions (e.g., Swiss Pass, half fare, Schilthorn, Jungfraujoch, in/around Lauterbrunnen).

Assistance and recommendations are greatly appreciated!

VRM only goes as far as Oberwesel, so you'll need a supplement to Bingen. 6.40 EUR pp to Bingen Stadt.

Your other post indicated a group of 12. Are these all adults? If some are children, what ages?

You can get a quote from Deutsche Bahn for your group from the website www.bahn.com.

You are skimping on the Rhine with only about 1.5 days there. If that's all the time you can afford, what if on Monday you took the train to Bingen and cruised back to Boppard? To reach Bingen you would just stay on the train as it passes through Boppard on its way south for another 30 minutes or so. The fare to Bingen from Papenburg looks to be only about 4-5 Euros more than to Boppard. And you will have freed up Tuesday entirely for a train outing to other towns, castles, etc. within the VRM Zone and whatever time you want in Boppard. The Bingen dock is near the Bingen Rhein Stadt station and has a nice waterfront where you could get yourselves a meal before the cruise, perhaps. Afternoon KD cruises leave Bingen at 14:30 and 16:30 - show your train tickets for a 20% cruise discount.
