German rail map with TIMINGS

I'm looking for a map that includes the approximate times between cities. Does such a thing exist?

Not to my knowledge. That would be an incredibly busy map unless you're just talking about distances between major rail hubs. Also, your mode of often transportation matters. Travel times can be pretty slow if you are traveling on day passes or the D-Ticket (month-long pass for regional trains.) Journeys that take full advantage of the long-distance trains have notably shorter travel times.

If you don't have hundreds of trips in mind, it will go pretty quickly if you just use the DB journey search page:

https://int.bahn.de/en/

Use "local transport only" under "means of transport" if you want the travel times for regional-train-only trips.

If there is one, the problem is that the times would not be accurate. Between many points, the time depends on if you take a Regional train, a Regional Express, an S-Bahn, or an Ice train, not to mention other international carriers that make the stops.

The best you can do is pick your route, check DB and see the options for the time period you wish to travel.

All very fair points. I don’t need something that’s exact, but rather a rough tool that will allow me to visualize the differences between major cities. Rick has the map with the cost of tickets, but not the approximate timings. I suppose I could always go back and add the times in to that map, but wanted to see if there was something floating around that might help.

Rick has the map with the cost of tickets, but not the approximate
timings.

The map linked above by Lizin PA does have approximate timings - it's the number after the cost estimate.

Just go to the DB site and post your desired trips. It will give you the times, which may vary depending on time of day and kind of train. Use the average. Super easy.

Right, but I really only need inter-Germany.

Wahnfried... the RS time/cost map for Europe is proof of the limitations of such maps. Just look at Frankfurt > Cologne at €85/1 hr.

  • 1 hr is pretty close to correct, but only for the most direct trip. DB site offers also the Rhine River routing - Germany's most scenic train ride - to Cologne in 2.5 hours. The map is silent on this desirable option.

  • If I am traveling with the €58/mo. Deutschland Ticket, this same trip takes 3.5 hours, which won't appear on the kind of map you seek. The D-Ticket is how many choose to travel of late.

  • Travel times are inaccurate... the 1-hr ICE trains are late as often as they are on time these days. Today, the one scheduled to arrive in Cologne at 14:15 was a half hour late. The one scheduled to leave at 14:09 was rescheduled for 15:14, then canceled.

  • €85 is the "normal" price for the 1-hr train... which is always a ridiculous price for comparisons with the railpass or with tickets that real people actually buy. I can get a discount fare TODAY for travel TOMORROW at the DB site for €30, or €18 two months out for the same trip.

It's not always possible to get good info in the format you prefer. Suggest you follow the guidance provided on this thread instead.

You might find all the data in this guide: european timetable but it would be very detailed info on every train route in the country (and all interim stops) so not in a handy map format.

I use the db navigator app on my phone to check timing.

I also use the app it purchase any tickets i need.

As Russ and Ms Jo indicated above, if you use the DB search for trains between each major city, you should be able to find your desired information, using averages.
And a paper map (horrors!) by your side could be useful/helpful.
Enjoy your research!

To repeat someone else above: the right tool for your job is Google Maps. Just use railway as the travel mode, rather than automobile, bicycle or pedestrian.
