German "digital registration on entry form"

Hi folks,

I am a vaccinated traveler taking a trip on 9/1/2021 from BOS-LHR-MUC. Completed all required paperwork for the transfer through LHR (completed a Passenger Locater Form, uploaded information and received a form labeled “VACCINE STATUS: DECLARED FULL/EXEMPT” status).

For my LHR-MUC leg, I completed the German "digital registration on entry form" and printed out the 3-page document. I immediately received a PIN via SMS which allowed me to upload an image of my CDC COVID Vaccination Card. Upon completion of the upload, I expected an SMS message and/or email from the German authorities, but have not received any confirmation. Is this normal operation? I’m missing something?

For the LHR-MUC connection, I also completed a British Airways "Document verification process", answering a few questions and uploading an image of my CDC COVID Vaccination Card, but after 8 hrs., no verification from BA. Is this normal wait time?

If I have not received verification by tomorrow, my hope is to show the BA agents my original CDC COVID Vaccination Card during check-in for my LHR-MUC flight , but I would rather obtain approval ahead of time.

Any feedback is appreciated.

Thanks!

Flew OHare-Munich on 8/22. It sounds like you have taken every possible step; I wouldn’t worry about not receiving an e-confirmation from BA. The worst that can happen is you will be asked to complete a paper copy of the online forms you already did. DO take your original CDC paper proof of vax card; it will be useful. DO arrive with an N95/FFP2 mask.

I flew to Germany last week from the U.S. and submitted my German digital registration prior to the flight. I did not receive a confirmation either. No worries, just show the paperwork when asked at the airport and upon arrival and you are good to go.

Like sigmwilson, I landed in Frankfurt last week (Friday). I completed the online form, received my Digitale Einreiseanmeldung, and uploaded my proof of vaccination. I did not get any confirmation it was received.

I presented the form at immigration. It was reviewed, along with my CDC card and passport. Passport stamped. Then off to German adventures.

If you go to a pharmacy on arrival, the pharmacist can enter your CDC COVID vaccine dates into a database that spits out a digital certificate with a QR Code that can be used to upload your immunizations to an app. The CovPass and Corona Warn apps are listed on the certificate as the app options for uploading vaccines. I kept getting a "not available in your country" message when I tried to download the apps on my US iPhone (if using a European SIM card, I think you will have no trouble). I've uploaded my immunizations to the Luca app using the digital certificates; as of Sunday this app was being used in Chemnitz for a concert I attended (don't know how widespread its use is otherwise, and one German commenter on this forum stated the Luca app was being phased out).

I have had zero trouble getting into museums in Berlin. No one has asked for an app, an immunization certificate or anything else. Just need a mask. I have not tried indoor dining in Berlin, so not sure what is needed there.

Good luck!

Thank you everyone for the helpful replies. I just cleared the BA ticket counter in BOS - complete chaos. A large portion of the travelers did not have the correct COVID test and have not completed the UK Passenger Locator Form. The BA ticket agents were doing a wonderful job guiding people.

My daughter and I are here in Germany now. My experience was the same as other posters. I’d like to add, I entered my first hotel destination in Hamburg, on my registration. Two days later I received a request from Hamburg to provide my vac card, which I did. When we arrived at the hotel, we needed to provide copies of everything we had. As we’ve moved on most hotels don’t ask but ours in Quedlinburg did. Today we’re in Dresden and the hotel did not ask either. It appears enforcement is dependent on the state.

Its GooglePlay they block if you if you don't switch country to your destination of choice. Once you switch countries you can't switch back on the associated email address for... A YEAR!. Thank you Google for being crazy!. I ran into this issue about a week ago because I wanted to pre-download the apps needed. CovPass is only available for download in Europe (and I think Germany specifically). You can switch the country- you also have to switch the country your gmail account is associated with (not hard to do- its in settings), and if you have Google pay, you have to erase that account then add a paypal account (since it doesn't have your address). Essentially you need to fool Google because they are obnoxious.

I think once you are in country it is feasible and not as much of a pain in the butt (though I could be wrong).

Having a European phone number doesn't do anything, I have 2 from GB (thanks to some friendly fellow on here who sent me a simcard which has proved really useful multiple times- on a side note).

Anyways---

This is a good thread. When should fill out the paperwork before we go? 3 days 5 days a week or more.

Yes, it is a good thread. Lufthansa let me fill out the German digital entry form about four days before flying. They also wanted to see the CDC card when I checked in at SeaTac. I think the German immigration guy in Frankfurt wanted to see it also. And most of the restaurants I went to, and some of the museums and other sights. I never needed an app, thank goodness! This trip was a couple of weeks ago. I chose a flight straight to Germany rather than through another country, to avoid the aggravations the OP experienced at Heathrow.

Just as an update to this thread, the CovPass app can now be downloaded in the US.
