We will drive from Dachau south and ultimately want to do Neuschwanstein Castle and Zugspitze... Would love recommendations for where to call "home base" in that area. Looking at a hotel in Hammersbach called Sentido. Anyone with knowledge of that town? Worried it may be a bit dull... not looking for museums, just good shops and a village that's worthy of walking around after dinner :-).

"Worried it may be a bit dull..." You are probably right. Hammersbach is a part of Grainau which has about 3,500 inhabitants. Hammersbach itself is a hamlet in beautiful surroundings, Garmisch-Partenkirchen being only a few kilometers away.
