Dpt USA 22 Sep, sleep 2 nights In MUC area ( Oktoberfest) pick up car drive to Regensburg (2 nights explore ) 27/29 Sep drive to and sleep Linz AUS ( tour Muthausen), 20/01 Oktober Innsbruck . 01 Oktober to 05 lodging (base ) in Pfronten, Germany tour area 06 OKtober over night inMUC area for fly on 07 back to USA BROKE . Experienced to travel in Germany by car? Rules, signs, do's, don'ts ...
Rental car:
Ensure that all drivers have a valid driving permission for Germany: for this check validity of foreign driving licences in Germany and Austria and if (likely) IDP is needed.
Ensure vignette for Austria.
Rental car station close to A9 recommended for pick-up, e. g. Sixt Schwabing.
Rental car drop-off?
For destination suggestions interests / preferences would help.

That would work for me. You may want to take a day and drive over to Lake Constanz from Pfronten. Have a good trip. There's a chance I'll be in that area around then too.
