Garmisch Partinkirchen in December

We will be in Garmisch Partinkirchen mid December for three nights. We will pick up a car for this portion of our trip, so I am looking for day trips from GP in Winter. We have already been to Neuschwanstein so we won't go there. Is there enough in the GP area in winter for three days.

We will then go to Munich for three nights so we will have day trips from there too.

Suggestions for winter GP activities?
Thanks in advance.

3 Nights/ 2 full days,
I'll start off with:
Zugspitze Trip
Linderhof Palace
Ettal Monastery and Church
Oberammergau
Mittenwald and the Karwendelbahn Trip

Innsbruck and the absolutely fabulous Christmas Markets there!
Don't miss this, especially in the evening.
Also in Innsbruck: Schloss Ambras, Hofburg, Hofkirche and Nordkettenbahn Trip.

Thanks Paul. I have been looking at the Innsbruck markets and I am so excited to go there too. We have been there before but not in winter.

Thank you for the suggestions.

Tom, I should have mentioned that. ;-) we do not ski. But we hike, love great food and want to see the Christmas markets.

For visiting Innsbruck, we always park in the Congress Garage. Very convenient to the old town pedestrian zone, Christmas markets, the Nordkettenbahn trip (right across the street) and the Hofburg and Hofkirche.

Take a walk/hike through the Partnachlamm! Park at the Olympic stadium in Partenkirchen, then walk down the quiet pedestrian road for about 2 k until you get to the tiny ticket booth at the entrance of the gorge. The walkway is a level path dipping in and out of shallow caves above the roaring river. There's a metal fence to keep you on the path, and it's very safe, though a little wet, and you may need to duck your head occasionally. If there's been enough freezing weather, you'll find a winter wonderland of huge icicles. Even if it's not yet frozen, the river is blue with silt as it crashes over boulders. Quite a magical place!

I've been to several of the Christmas Markets in that area including Innsbruck. If you would like to read about them and see my pics, send me a personal message and I will give you the name of the blog.
