Ga-Pa and Fuessen: Gorge, Castles and More - What's Practical?

After having a mid-June 2016 walking tour with another provider cancel on us, Sis and I are trying to fill in on our own using public transportation. We will be spending 7 nights in Seefeld in Tirol walking/hiking. We then plan to head north via train to Ga-Pa for 2 nights; our only stated goal is to walk the Partnachklamm. From Ga-Pa our plans were to take the Bus 9606 to Fuessen for 2 nights to do Neuschawnstein (Sis has never been) and Hohenschwangau. Should we spend our additional time going up Zugspritze or try to manage Linderhof. Linderhof seems to be almost impossible to do using public transportation. If we try to do it in route to Fueseen from Bus 9606 is there somewhere with luggage lockers that will accept fair sized roller bags? Since this is Sis's first trip to Germany/Bavaria is there something else we should consider in this area for outdoors women of a "certain" age? We would appreciate suggestions.

It's not at all difficult to get to Linderhof. It's about a 15 minute bus trip from Oberammergau. However, there are no lockers at the Oberammergau Bahnhof.

I hate to recommend one night stands to travelers, but go in the morning from Garmisch-P to Omerammergau, check in here, near the Bahnhof, leave you luggage and go to Linderhof. Come back and stay in Oberammergau. The next morning, take the first bus to Hohenschwangau, leave your luggage at the TI office at the Hohenschwangau bus stop, tour the castles, then go to your accommodations in Füssen.

The TI office in Hohenschwangau told me in an email years ago that you could leave luggage behind the counter there. In 2009, I visited the TI office, and they confirmed that. There were lockers at the Füssen Bahnhof up to 2013, but they might not be currently available due to reconstruction work on the station building.

If you have never been to the top of the Zugspitze I would do that. It is well worth it. I have been twice and lucked out on clear blue skies.
When you hike the gorge go up and over the gorge also, a little beer garden will await you. The Olympic stadium is very interesting also. Great bike and hiking trails there.

Thank you Pat & Lee for your input. We think we are going to hope for clear weather and do Zugspritze. As much as we would like to see Linderhof it will eat up too much of our time and we don't want to do a one night night stand, much less 2 one night stands in a row.

With regards to hiking, I can't find a whole lot of information on specific walks aside from to Partnachklamm. Pat, we will definitely try to find the little beer garden you mention.

You can climb the Wank, The lifts might be running and you can take it up or down. Sometimes they are closed but it is not a bad walk.

Pat, thanks for the suggestion about the Wank. I will add this to our possibilities and make a decision based on the weather when we are there.
