We are traveling to Germany this summer, sticking pretty close to Rick Steves suggested itinerary. On the Bavarian Alps leg, are we better off staying in Hohenschwangau vs Fussen?

Fussen , without question A better selection of hotels , a very amiable town to wander , and not the single focus crowds you encounter when you do visit the Castles . , which are a quick ten minute bus ride from Fussen Bahnhof

We are going in September to the castle's and staying in Fussen at the Hotel Sonne Fussen for 2 nights and total 340 euro.

Will you have a car? I liked schwangu and Horn. We had a view of the castle in the distance from our hotel room in schwangu. Note Schwangu is NOT Hohenschwangu.
