Fussen Itinerary for 2 Days. When to see the castles

Hi, so my 2 friends and I will be arriving in Fussen from Munich on Monday October 21 for 2 nights via train; and I'm looking for suggestions on when to see the 2 castles. Should we visit both the next day on Tuesday or can we visit the Hohenschwangau castle the day we arrive? And visit Neuschwanstein on Tuesday? If this is a good option, are there large luggage lockers available at the Fussen train station because we cannot get into our accommodation until 4 PM on Monday? Thanks!

Train to Füssen + lockers + bus to N'stein

No clue what time you will leave Munich and arrive at the final bus stop, so no clue what you can accomplish that first day. Check DB schedules to Neuschwanstein from Munich:

FYI there's a castle in Füssen proper which was built many centuries ago, but N'stein and H'schwangau are both residential palaces, one built just before 1900, the other in the mid-19th century. N'stein has a fake castle exterior, which is probably why it's incorrectly referred to as a castle.

Thanks for this. We will have to check it out too. My main concern was that if the Fussen train station does not have luggage storage options, we would have to wait until the next day to see both Neuschwanstein & Hohenschwangau.

The video link I provided shows the Füssen station lockers at about 1:44. Unless they've recently been removed, you're good to go.

You can easily do both castles in the same display if you wish to. My father and I did this last year and he was 87 at the time, We had plenty of time to walk around. gat food, buy gifts etc. And still see both castles.

You better reserve your tickets ahead of time for Neuschwanstein Castle or you may be waiting many hours for your specific time. If you miss your time slot....you are not going in!

Good point about the reservations.. That being said usually your hotel can get you tickets if you are staying locally.

The video link Russ provided is accurate . We are in Fussen now , having last visited several years ago . The station has since been torn down , and replaced by a new structure , with shops and services , all nicely done .

Thanks for all the replies. I booked the 'Kings' ticket for the next day that includes both castle tours. We will probably still utilize the available lockers at the train station if we arrive before our check-in time.
