From Bacharach to Versaille/Paris

We are going to Versaille from Bacharach tomorrow. Surprised it is not direct as rail-train-metro. Can somebody tell us the best way by train there? Help!!

I see a saver fare at DB for tomorrow leaving Bacharach from platform 1 at 8:06 - priced at €90 including reservation. Normal price is €117. Buy it now if you want the lower price. The route is Bacharach > Bingen Hbf > Kaiserslautern Hbf > Paris (12:53) with change in Bingen and Kaiserslautern.

I nominate you for the weekly "seat of their pants" award.

Have a good trip.

Hi,
Not sure I understand the surprise, you're going from a German village to a fairly distant suburb of Paris after all.
Regardless: you need to look for tickets from Bacharach to Paris, the Deutsche Bahn (DB) website is the most logical way to look for tickets; Loco2 is a reputable agency, without any markups, that also works.
There are several possible routes, via Cologne (Koeln), via Frankfurt, or via Kaiserslautern, shouldn't be more than one or two transfers; just pick whatever is cheapest and suits your timing.

Once in Paris, you will arrive either at Gare du Nord or Gare de l'Est. It makes no difference, they are close to each other. From either, to get to Versailles by public transportation currently requires taking metro line 4 towards Montrouge and change at Montparnasse for Transilien train line N towards Versailles Chantiers. Long walk involved.

All in all you're looking at about seven hours.

EDIT : wow just saw this was a request for tomorrow, now that's going with the flow :-)
