Frankfurt visit - Dont miss the Äppelwoi !

Don't forget to include Äppelwoi pubs in your itinerary. They are very traditional and the apple wine is so refreshing. You can also enjoy traditional cuisine at reasonable prices. It's rustic and you're likely to strike up conversations with locals. There are many in Sachsenhausen (Gemaltes Haus, Wagner), as well as in other districts and the surrounding charming towns, often with lots of half-timbered houses.

Welcome to the Forums, eleonore - glad to have you here. Especially another person recommending Frankfurt things. I'm a frequent visitor but don't live there.

Are you local to Frankfurt?

Gemaltes Haus and Wagner are the 2 most touristy places in Frankfurt and the 2 places I recommend that people do NOT go to. They are not the traditional old apfelwein pubs like Atschel, Lorsbacher Tal, Dauth Schneider, Fitzi Kranz, Dax, etc.

If you need a bit more of a kick, go for the Mispelchen, apple brandy with a odd plumish type fruit in it (a Medlar fruit or similar to a Loquat)
