Frankfurt to Salzburg

I will be arriving in Frankfurt on a Friday and then heading over to Salzburg for a quick visit (need to get back to Frankfurt on Sunday). I’m planning on flying to Salzburg on Friday. Should I fly back on Sunday or take the train? What is the scenery like between Salzburg and Frankfurt?

The scenery is nothing special on that route, so if you find that the 5 hour train journey is too long, you might as well fly back. You'll only save about 1-1.5 hour vs train though, once you factor in check-in and airport travel times.
