Frankfurt to Munich in 4 days

Hi all! I'm making my very first (solo) trip to Europe in September and am trying to nail down my itinerary details. I'm starting the trip in London for 4 days, and then my plan is to fly into Frankfurt the morning of the 19th, and fly out of Munich late in the evening of the 23rd to Paris. I currently have rooms booked for 1 night in Baden-Baden, 1 night in Rothenburg ob der Tauber, and 2 nights in Munich, but they are cancellable until right before the trip so they are not set in stone (I booked a while back just to make sure I had something set up). The flights are also not set in stone if I need to adjust. Obviously I'd like to get everything figured out asap since it's coming up fast.

I'd really like to spend at least a full day in Munich, but with Oktoberfest starting right before then I understand it will be pretty crazy. As for the rest of the time, I'm pretty open, and don't really have any must-dos. I'm also open to traveling by car but would prefer by train/bus if possible.

Any suggestions for places I must see or recommended places to stay?

Sounds like a great trip. As for as suggestions for things to see. Hard to know where to start. All great cities. For Munich I would recommend the Englisch Beer gardens. Great food, scenery and people watching.

Also in Munich, excellent Art museums if you are into that. I think this one actually has the earliest Rembrandt known.

And the fabulous Marienplatz. Great shopping, food etc.

As for London, all of the museums are FREE which is great, and for a cool lunch experience near Trafalgar Square, by all means consider Café in te Crypt ! Great food at a low price and super ambiance. And possibly a great concert if you have the time.

The Alte Pinakothek in Munich is undergoing heavy reconstruction work at present and large parts of the building are off-limits. If there's anything special you want to see, I would check before you pay admission.

Frankfurt itself has also a lot to offer too, as well as the close wine region of the Rheingau. Just saying. : ))))
