We will be spending some time in Heidelberg in May and will be flying into Frankfurt. I’m curious if most travelers just do the DB or arrange a shuttle service or private transfer. Would love to hear people’s experiences. Thanks in advance.
Heidelberg is a bit far for a private transfer and I would not know of a shuttle service. I would always catch the train. There is a station at the airport. You will be looking for the long distance train station (Frankfurt am Main Flughafen Fernbahnhof). Very easy, it's underneath The Squaire just across from the airport but almost part of the same building so you can just wheel your bags there.

Thank you Lavandula!
Many moons ago when I moved to Heidelberg (having never visited the country prior to the move), I was instructed to take the Lufthansa airport shuttle between Frankfurt am Main airport and Heidelberg. Just now, I was curious if that shuttle still existed. Sure enough, it does; however, the webpage is only in German.

There is also TLS Heidelberg which is more expensive; their webpage is available in English.

If they fit your time and budget, perhaps these alternatives may be useful.
I have taken the train, no problem! Also another alternative would be flixbus or blablacar, in case you prefer a road way instead of tracks
I appreciate the feedback and shuttle options too. Danke!
