Frankfurt hotel recommendations and what to see/do there

We have four days planned this September 2023 for seeing Frankfurt and would like suggestions for hotels, hotel/apartment type places as well as must see sites. We've flown through Frankfurt airport many times but never taken the train into the city. We like to walk/bicycle or take walking tours. Or suggestions of any day trips to nearby towns/cities.

Thanks for any suggestions!

You should probably start with some ideas of your own on what you might see/do there. I think the links below should get you started:

As for outings there are several good options, just depends on what might interest you most... Mainz and Büdingen are among the doable options. Many attempt the Middle Rhine Valley from Frankfurt, but such an attempt usually shortchanges the visitor as it's a fair distance from Frankfurt and there are some good things to see and do in several different towns, as well as some wonderfully-scenic walks; I suggest you overnight there if it interests you.

search YouTube for the Frankfurt on Foot channel - there are dozens of short videos of all parts of the city and around. That should whet your appetite. They also provide general walking tours of the city and specialized personalized tours that in my experience are great. Start with the list just above and then have a look at the videos...

I expect to be back in Frankfurt in a couple of weeks.

Both the Adina Hotel and FrankfurtOnFoot are excellent recommendations provided by the above posters. I stayed at that very convenient location last July and also used took the walking tour.

If interested search for Adina Apartment Hotel Frankfurt Neue Oper.

If you are there on the dates mentioned above for the Rheingau Fest, take time to attend. We happened to be there last year, and it was a great opportunity to try area wines. There was also a variety of food available. I also recommend a tour with Frankfurt on Foot.
