Frankfurt for Christmas

Hi Everyone,
I will be visiting my best friend in Frankfurt 6.12.19-14.1.20 maybe longer. 4+ weeks. I did grow up via military off post in Stuttgart so this is not my first trip BUT my first during Christmas since 1993.

I am wanting to visit a few Christmas markets that are kid friendly as i have a 3 year old I would love to show the markets. I am also looking for 1-2 day trips to other markets that are worth seeing. We live in Alaska so weather is fine for us. We bundle up <3

We land in Paris 6 December will be staying 1-2 days then taking a train to next destination maybe Strasbourg, France to the oldest Christmas market...then work our way to Frankfurt via train. Rest is not currently planned. Last few days is my birthday...so I am not sure where to celebrate yet. We are leaving out of Frankfurt late evening 14th January.

Suggestions on markets?

Thank you in advance!

Stuttgart has a fine Christmas market -- one of my favorites. It has a small train that kids can ride through a Christmas village, among other rides and activities for kids. Even better is the Esslingen market, which is about a 15-minute S-ride from the main Stuttgart train station. It has both a traditional Christmas market and a medieval market, complete with medieval rides for small children, including a hand-turned wooden ferris wheel that was turned by a giant of a man in medieval clothing when I was there. The medieval market is particularly cool at night when most of the light comes from fire, not electric lights.
