Frankfurt connections

We plan to travel from the US through Frankfurt to and from Cairo. Two questions:

The airline shows a one hour connections between our flights arriving at FRA and departing to Cairo. We assume our luggage will be cheched through, right? In any case there is a one hour connection shown. Is this safe?

Coming back, we have an overnight stay at FRA, so we assume we will claim our luggage, go to an airport hotel, then go back to the airport the following morning to check in. What visas or other documents are required?
Thanks for any help!

If this is one one ticket, then your luggage should be checked through to Cairo.

You won't have to go through immigration or customs in Frankfurt on your way to Cairo.

Returning, you will clear immigration and customs, get your luggage and go to your hotel. There are a few hotels on the airport grounds.

The next day you will check in, drop your luggage, go through security and go through exit immigration.

As of now, if you have a US passport, that's all you will need for Germany.
