I am having trouble finding how to buy online tickets to the Stadel through the Stadel website with the Frankfurt Card discount. Can I purchase online, or must I buy in person with the Frankfurt Card? If I wait to buy until the day I arrive in late October, will I be able to enter? Does the Stadel sell out before arrival dates?

I found this in their question and answers page:
Please note: Reduced-fee tickets can only be purchased at the Städel Museum cashier’s desk; they are not available in the online shop.
The online ticket booking is showing October 23 as the earliest date with online availability. Perhaps someone will know if they hold some back for same day purchase in person. I presume they must since reduced fee tickets for disabilities are only available online. But for the Frankfurt Card holders?

We visited the Staedel last week . No difficulty buying tickets at the door . Spectacular collection , spent a whole day there .

I've never had a problem spontaneously getting a ticket for the Städel (or Staedel; please note that "Stadel" is a barn;)). Despite its excellent collections, it has never achieved much international recognition. Too bad for the museum, good for the visitor ;)
If you have time, you might want to visit the Liebighaus too, an splendid collection of some 3,000 sculptures dating from ancient Egypt to Classizism.
