Frankfurt Airport Transit

We will be flying Delta from Detroit to Frankfurt airport and have purchased separate tickets to continue on to Turin via Air Dolomiti. We have a 3 hour 40 minute layover so I'm pretty sure we have enough time to make the flight. We'd like to get a handle on how to get from our arrival gate to our departure gate. We are flying with only carry-on luggage.

Our flight arrives in Terminal 2 Level2 Hall/Area D and the Air Dolomiti gate is in Terminal 1 Level 2 Hall/Area A. If someone could tell us how to get to passport control and then on to Terminal 1 via the Sky Line it would be much appreciated.

When you exit your gate just follow the crowds and the signs towared immigraion and/or baggage claim. This will route you to immigration. Get in a non-EU immigration line. Since you only have carry-on bags, after immigraion you can pass direclty through the baggage claim area and go to the customs exit Smile and keep walking if the customs agent doesn't stop you.

Once you exit customs head to an escalator or elevator to take you up to Sky Line. If I recall correctly, it's only destination from T2 is T1, so you can't get lost.

Hall A is toward the right end of T1 (oriented if looking from the main enterance into the terminal). Security and emmigration are located as you first enter Hall A.

There are deli, coffe and take-away shops in Hall A. If you want a full, seated meal. You will need to have your meal in the T1 before entering Hall A.

Have a great trip. I will be passing through T2 a couple of times in October.

Once you go through immigration, you will be in the Schengen zone (not the Transit zone, which is for non-Schengen gates) of T2. Once on the Sky Line, the first "stop" will probably be for Pier C, Transit side. If you are not on the Transit (non-Schengen) side, you will not have the option of getting off at Pier C.

After Pier C, there are two Sky Line stops in T1, the first one for Pier or Concourse B, the last on for Pier A/Z. A and Z are on different levels of the same building. Z is on the top level, below the Sky Line station. You will probably have to go through security to get to either level, since the Sky Line is considered outside of security. Just follow signs down to the A gates.
