Frankfurt Airport to Main Train Station

Hello,
We have about 2.5 hours to connect from the airport to a train to Vienna. Assuming a miracle occurs and the plane is on time, should we opt for a cab, or try and figure out the airport train to the main station. We will only have carry on luggage and are not concerned about saving money for this connection.

Thank you,
Kurt

I'm not sure when you're traveling but have you checked the DB Bahn website? On a couple of days that I randomly checked there are nonstops to Vienna from the airport station in Frankfurt. I recall one at 8am and one at noon.

Thank you for responding. We arrive June 2 at about noon. The best connection I could find was a 2:21 nonstop to Vienna, from the main Frankfurt station on the OBB website. Am I missing something?

Oh - I think you'll have missed the nonstops from the airport for the day. It's not hard to get to the Main station from the airport. You literally leave the secured section of the airport and walk across a skybridge and you're at the airport station. You can be at the Main station in about 10 minutes.

You can connect to your train as late as 13:47 using the S-Bahn from the airport Regionalbahnhof. It is a local transit ticket and the trains go every 15 minutes and get you into the station in the underground level in 11 minutes.
If you are running late, you can get the 14:01 IC train from the airport Fernbahnhof for 8 EUR also in 11 minutes and bring you into the station on Track 1 and your Vienna train departs from Track 4 so you should have enough time to make it.

I don't see a taxi getting you there any faster than 11 minutes, in fact you won't even get outside the airport in that amount of time.

Have you bought the ticket yet? If not, just buy it using Frankfurt Airport as the start point and the train connection will be included in the price.

Thank you to everyone for taking the time to respond. I'll take your advice and use the train to get to the main station.

"Walk across a sky bridge" sound like going to the Fernbahnhof. Long distance trains from the Fernbahnhof do get to the Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof a few minutes quicker than the S-Bahn from the closer in Regionalbahnhof, but the time savings in not worth the extra time to get out to the Fernbahnhof, especially when the S-Bahn from the Regionalbahnhof runs more often than the long distance trains. Go to the Regionalbahnhof - down the stairs just inside the outside wall of the Terminal 1 wall and through the mall under the access road to the Regionalbahnhof. Take the S-Bahn to the Hbf.
