I am going to Switzerland, and I am planning on having a carry on. However, I have a bad shoulder, and if I have to check my bag, I wonder, do I have to get my bag in Frankfurt, and recheck it? The booking was on one ticket with the carrier.

No, you will have to go through passport control (and possibly security for your carry-on bags) in Frankfurt but your checked bag will remain checked until you get to Switzerland.

In June, we were booked to Venice with a layover in Frankfurt from Chicago. Bags went straight through. We went through passport control only. No new security check before going to new gate. It was quick and easy.
