Mark, I’ve been watching videos from Fraport and Hessen hr about Terminal 3. Although I’ll be flying into T1 as usual, I’ll likely have to satisfy my curiosity and ride the SkyLine to have a peek at T3 (as I’ll also have no checked baggage). At any rate, it’ll be interesting to see what future changes will occur at FRA’s T1 and T2.

Hoping to go out there today or tomorrow to see it, take some photos, and make a video. Excited to see what it looks like.

I am curious about your both impressions and feedback.

Some improvements are not visible:
"All security checkpoints in Terminal 3 use state-of-the-art CT scanners. These enable faster and more convenient screening of carry-on luggage.

Therefore, passengers may carry up to 2 liters of liquids in their carry-on luggage. It is not necessary to pack them in a transparent, resealable bag.

Electronic devices such as laptops, tablets, or cameras may also remain in carry-on luggage during the security check."

Made it to the airport yesterday. Good signage everywhere, from the time you step off of the S-bahn. Will have to go to the long distance station next, but am sure it is the same. I think, no matter whether it is the long distance or the regional station, count on a 10-15 min. walk to the SkyLine. There are no shuttle buses going between terminals right now. Not sure if those will come back eventually or not.

You cannot use carts on the Skyline Train, so pack accordingly! Because yesterday was the 1st day and not a lot of flights coming in, the train was just one wagon, with the separate section for those that need to stay airside, like the old monorail. Honestly, this needs some work. It was a really rocky ride, so I wouldn't want to drink anything while riding. Not a lot of seats either and the organization of getting everyone on and off was not pleasant. Since I was not flying, have no idea how this is going to work for those switching terminals on their journey. The ride lasted about 8 min. from Terminal 1 to 3, with a stop at Terminal 2. Easiest access seemed to be for guests at the Mariott/Sheraton.

The terminal itself is huge! I believe 3-4 football fields huge. The artwork has not been hung up yet, so that will change the look a bit. it is all automated! You and your bags, so that will be interesting to see how that works when tourist season is in full swing. They have a month to get the kinks worked out. Lots of places to eat here, but I didn't explore as much as i wanted. Have an injured knee that kept begging for me to sit down. Large, outdoor terrace that kind of looks out over the airport, but with half of it roofed over for some shade. This might be the only place for smoking. There were 3 places for car rental and a REWE grocery store.

Will go out there again soon, to see more places.

The biggest drawback for me, is that you have to take that SkyTrain to get here unless you arrive by taxi. For those with lots of luggage, dog crates, kids, etc. this is going to be a pain. Take a taxi from Frankfurt, Mainz, Wiesbaden, if that is your situation. They will have an S-bahn/regional train stop here eventually. There are some bus lines that stop here, but these are the regular buses run by RMV, not the free shuttle buses.

Anyway, got lots of photos and a video made. Not my best video, but it will suffice for a few weeks until I can get a better one made.
