Frankfurt airport (FRA) - Hotel Shuttles

We will be traveling through the Frankfurt Airport (FRA) later this month. We have a long layover so have booked a hotel room. They offer a shuttle from the airport to the hotel and their schedule uses this this notation:

T 1, Hotel Pickup B 4-5. I understand "T1" means terminal one, but the "B 4-5" is confusing. Can someone decode this for me, and tell me where the hotel shuttles are located in comparison to the arrival gates (arriving on Lufthansa from within EU). I've looked at several airport maps but still not certain.

We would like to get to the shuttle very quickly as it is a late evening arrival and the shuttles are spaced an hour apart.

Thanks very much for your help.

Which hotels are you looking at? There's quite a few that are right at the airport - walk out of the airport, across a skybridge to the train station area and you're there. We stayed at the Hilton at the airport two years ago - an easy walk from the airport. There's also a Hilton Garden Inn right there but I really liked that Hilton.

You can ask when you get there. But I will try to suss this out.
The luggage carousels at Terminal 1 are marked sections A, B, and C.
There are doors exiting to the Arrivals auto lane. Doors are numbered, so I surmise that the shuttle bus will stop between doors 4 & 5.
This was cleaned by viewing the Terminal Map and strolling along the road using google street view.
Take a look at this street view image. See the overhead block "B" to the left, and zoom in to the right to see a door numbered "5". Also various courtesy vans parked along the way.

The shuttles stop outside of arrivals A, on the lower level. When you go outside terminal 1, you will see signs directing you to the shuttle stops. You will see the many shuttle buses too, going to the various hotels. These are the only buses allowed to stop along this area.

Why have you chosen a hotel that only has a shuttle once an hour??? Are they charging you for it too? You could have taken the train into the city in 11 min. and had a cheap hotel room there. Or at least stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn at the airport.

Do you fly the same day or the next day?

I agree with Jo. Stay at the Hilton Garden. It's a fairly quick walk across the sky bridge. You'll be able to rest far sooner than waiting for the shuttle and getting to a hotel further away. Then when you need to go back for your flight, you're right there already and just need to head back to the terminal. It's very convenient. It may cost a bit more than a discount hotel, but well worth it in my opinion. I stayed there a couple of years ago and loved it.

Another vote for the Hilton Garden Inn -- especially for an early-morning flight. We like to avoid unnecessary stressors like wondering if there will be a train delay. Roll out of bed, walk across to the airport, pick up breakfast pastries along the way.

Sam and Ms. Jo, thank you very much for that very useful information. I hadn't even thought of using the Street View in Google! Although I thought baggage claim was the most logical assumption for the shuttles, it was still an assumption. You've made me feel much more at ease now.

As I stated the room is booked, the arrival is late. Really People.... not everyone can afford to stay at a Hilton, or has the energy at the end of a very long and stressful day to figure out a train system. A good answer to the actual question is so much more helpful... and kind.

Happy Travels.

Carolyn,
At risk of disillusioning you further as to our helpfulness, I think you misunderstood what many of us were trying to tell you...the airport hotels are AT the airport...no need to look for a train while you are tired and no need to potentially wait an hour for a shuttle. You just walk out of the airport front door and you are at the hotel in a couple of minutes. And booked hotels are often cancelable so we were just trying to help. I don't know what your budget is but we only paid $100 for our room at the Hilton.
