Hello! We are arriving in Frankfurt at 12:40pm via direct flight from SFO. We will be taking an ICE train to Cologne that afternoon. How long should I allow between arrival and our train departure? I don't want to cut it too close, yet I know we'll be ready to move on to our destination! Thanks for any guidance you can provide.
Have you booked your airline ticket yet? There are Rail & Fly deals that give you the ability to take any train upon arrival.
You say you are arriving at 12:40 pm, but that is just the schedule if everything works smoothly. You cannot predict a departure delay, or a snafu at immigration that delays you. If you are wanting to book a nonrefundable, that can be risky, even though you are getting a about a 50% discount or better. Safest is to just buy a ticket when you arrive and take the next available train. ICE train to Cologne are very frequent, like 4 fast direct trains every hour.
Agree to Sam.
Easiest is to book a Flex ticket - no more timing issues. Just jump onto the next train:

Yes, we have our air tickets already - and this looks to be easier than I anticipated! Thank you both.
