Anybody have a favourite place to eat in Stuttgart. I'd be particularly interested in anything in the Möhringen area, as I'm staying there and it's too far out of the centre to be covered by guides.

If you get to the center of town, you might try the Weinstube Kachelofen.

Good, basic fare from the area. They are usually full by reservations but always have managed squeeze us in.

We tried to go once without reservations and could not get in. The local was an American living in Stuttgart. He said that it was one of the best. A little pricey as I remember.

When we were in Munich, I asked the hotel clerk where we could go to get spaetzle. His reply? "Stuttgart!" :-)

Thanks everyone. I ended up not visiting any of the ones mentioned, but I really liked a place near the Schellenturm called "Basta". Slightly more fancy version of traditional local cookery.
