Flying from Zurich to London

Anyone have any suggestions on airline, one way from Zurich to London in September? I know there are dozens of small airlines offering flights and the RS book delves into this a little, but I wanted some feedback and suggestions.
My wife and I are traveling through Bavaria in September and ending up in Zurich for some sightseeing and going to London on the way home to visit friends.

Why not take a direct Swiss flight? There are 1-12 flights a day and it's a reputable airline.

Why ending up in over-expensive Zurich and not in Bavarian Memmingen FMM and flying from there with Ryanair to STN? Airport Karlsruhe / Baden-Baden FKB is also possible.

Alternative is Easyjet from FDH to LGW.

Because it makes

ending up in Zurich for some sightseeing

somewhat complicated?

I apologize, Nigel :-)

sla019, I am not aware of any sightseeing OP can do around Lake Zurich but not around Lake Constance or in Bavaria before. Do you?

An alternative to Zurich is Basel, from which you can fly Easyjet to London. Basel is only an hour away from Zurich.

Thanks for the replies, we don't have any sightseeing plans in Zurich, simply ending up there to visit a friend before heading to London. Only staying one night in Zurich, and actually the room near the Zurich airport, Domero-Airport, was not that much, only $136.

No need to go to Basel or anywhere else. You can fly from Zurich to London on Easyjet (Gatwick or Luton), BA (London City or Heathrow) or Swiss (Heathrow, London City and now also Gatwick).
Easyjet is usually the cheapest base fare, but lately it is less of a bargain than it once was, especially if you have checked bags and/or want seat reservations. Easyjet also offer fewer flights so if anything goes wrong, you don't have as many rebooking options.
If you have a preferred London airport you want to fly into and/or a specific time you want to fly, that may also be a deciding factor. Just check Google Flights or whatever you use to see options and then book directly with the airline. Book early as prices do go up, especially around weekends.
