Fleming Hotel and Blauer Bock in Munich

I've read mixed reviews about both places. Fleming seems good deal even with glass enclosed shower. Some say Blauer Bock is shabby. Anybody stay there recently?

Try the Eden Hotel Wolff on Arnulfstrasse just across the street from the RR. station.
Comfortable rooms, excellent staff and a very good restaurant.

Try Hotel Lindner. It's right off of Marienplatz in the center of downtown. Good price for Munich. Elevator.

Another vote for Pension Lindner. We stayed there for 5 night this past September and loved it! Great little inn, fantastic breakfasts, wonderful host and great location. We would absolutely stay there again, FWIW.

We stayed in the Blauer Bock in 200?. It was a bit shabby but the breakfast was good and the staff was helpful. The location was great near the Viktualienmarkt. I would not be reluctant to stay there again.

Nothing terrible about the Blauer Bock but for the money I was expecting better.
Positives:
excellent location near to all city centre sights, staff were efficient and friendly, wifi free and reasonable speed.Mini safe in room.

Negatives:The double bed was actually two beds pushed together, little shower .Wood floors look nice but mean a lot of bumping around noise from above. No kettle or coffee tea making in room. No refrigerator or minibar.

Hotel am Viktualienmarkt is our go-to hotel in Munich. Very near the Viktualienmarkt and the Marienplatz. Second choice is Motel One Sendlinger Tor - and it even has Air Condition which is slightly unheard of in Munich.

2015 isn't all that recent, but I can't imagine the Blauer Bock becoming "shabby" if it's under the same management.

The latest reviews on TripAdvisor are consistent with our experience - which was excellent.

"The double bed was actually two beds pushed together"

This is very common in Germany, and elsewhere in Europe. If you must have a larger bed with one mattress instead of two smaller mattresses pushed together, you have to confirm it specifically with the hotel.

I stayed on a Rick Steves Best of Europe tour at the Hotel Blauer Bock and it was not shabby at all. It was very nice, spotless and a great breakfast and breakfast room. I went in 2014 and the tour guide said they just redid the hotel. I am staying there again on a Rick Steves 8 day Munich, Salzburg and Vienna tour this year.

I also stayed at the Hotel am Viktualienmarkt on the RS GAS tour in 2016 and liked that hotel too. Both hotels are near each other and seemed to be very similar. I don't think you could go wrong with either hotel.
