Does anyone have a favorite? When we were there a few years ago I remember seeing one, at least I think it was a flea market, while on the sbahn going between Alexander Platz and the HBF. I also remember it being around the river near a large Cathedral. We would like to find one while we are there in March that I am hoping is near a s or ubahn station.
There is the Mauerpark market on Sundays midway between the Bernauer and Eberwalder Strasse U-Bahn stations. It's a huge market. And this also puts you in the middle of the Wall Memorial park, which has some tremendous historical displays.
Thank you Larry! We'll see if we can find it.
I was in Berlin this past March on a Sunday, and there was a huge flea market along the west bank of the river across from the Museum Island. It is probably the one your are referring to as being near the 'large Cathedral' (Berliner Dom).
Hi,
I've been to the one near Museum Island a couple of times. That's worth going to. You turn left from Unter den Linden as you're walking down the street, it's on a Sunday At the very end of the market almost the last of the tables is a very large history collection, esp if you're into esoteric military and war history mainly from WW 2, a lot of them in originals.
Thank you everyone!
My favorite flea market is at Arkonaplatz, just a few blocks from the one at the Mauerpark, but on the other side of Bernauer Strasse. It's smaller, less touristy, and nicer/more interesting stuff. http://www.troedelmarkt-arkonaplatz.de/index.html (click on "Anfahrt" for the closest stops on public transportation). I also like the flea market at Boxhagener Platz in Friedrichshain: http://www.berlin.de/en/shopping/markets-and-flea-markets/1998240-2983302-fleamarket-at-boxhagener-platz-.en.html.
Both are on open on Sundays. Enjoy your trip!
