Finding an Airport Hotel in Frankfurt

I am a single senior woman traveling alone for part of my trip to Germany. I will be traveling by rail from Lubeck to get a plane at Frankfurt at 10 am on Feb. 26. Therefore, I think it wise to stay overnight on the 25th close to the airport. Recommendations in Rick Steves Germany names two - Ibis and Sheraton. I have not been able to contact Ibis and the Sheraton is quite expensive and does not have shuttle service to the airport. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

It might be over your budget but there’s a Hilton at the Frankfurt airport. It’s about a 10 minute walk to the terminal via enclosed walkway. It’s also in the vicinity of the long distance rail station.

Frankfurt is only about a 20 minute train ride from the airport if you want to stay there for the night.

We have stayed at Hilton Garden Inn at Frankfurt airport several times -- instead of the expensive restaurants we like to get a roast chicken at the supermarket just across from the Hilton and Garden Inn entrances. And maybe load up on Milka candy bars.

Do be aware that many of the "airport" hotels are not at the airport and you will need to take a shuttle bus to get there. For the amount of time that takes, (some only run every 20-30 min. and add in the time it takes to get to the airport) plus the fact that some of them charge 5€, you could stay in the city. Frankfurt is only 11 min. away with a train every 15 min. and has a ton of budget hotels. Cost for a single ticket is 4.95€.

Only the 2 Hiltons and the Sheraton are actually at the airport.
