Final Itinerary for SW Germany in April

Please critique and advise where you are able. Yes, this involves many hours in a vehicle but we love road trips and upgraded to a luxury vehicle so it is all part of the experience :)

Day 1 : Hotel check in near Heidelberg and head north on the Bergstraße to leisurely explore Weinheim and Heppenheim, eat lunch/dinner out.
Day 2: Hit a grocery to pick up picnic lunch items and head south towards Baden-Baden on the Fantastische Straße. Fin a scenic spot for a picnic lunch. From there, hook into the Badischeweinstraße and head towards Gengenbach.
Day 3: Leave Heidelberg traveling along the Neckar River towards Bad Wimpfen. Stopping at Dilsberg and possibly Katzenbuckel along the way (weather dependent).
Day 4: Drive south towards Sasbachwalden and from there drive east through the Schwarzwald towards Hohenzollern Castle.
Day 5: Leave hotel early to drive to Dachau Memorial site. From there head to Freising for lunch at Weihenstephan Brewery. Head on to Landshut to explore my ancestral town.

My heart weeps with nostalgia as I read your itinerary...

I suggest you save Heppenheim for dinner time. When you see the Marktplatz, you'll know why.

Head over to Lorsch for dessert. It also has a nice little Markt that, for some reason, can support three Eiscafés. When I lived in the area, I called it "Ice Cream Town".

If you're not bathing in Baden-Baden, skip it. There's even a much more fun thermal resort in Weinheim.
