Fastest way from Interlaken to Munich and then have 2 full days in Munich.

Hello Travelers!
We (my husband and teenage twin boys) leave Interlaken on Sunday, July 15th and need to fly out of Copenhagen at 4:30 pm on the 18th of July. Where should we go for 3 nights? I was thinking of maybe going to Munich and having 2 full days exploring the outskirts although Sunday would be mostly travel (6-7 hours). Advice on which way to get there and which trains? Then we can fly out of Munich to Copenhagen on the 18th. It looked like flying to Copenhagen from Munich would be about the same price as the train which takes over 12 hours. Or, should we skip Munich and see something else? So many awesome options to see but I'd appreciate some advice. Thanks!

I would plan to spend the night of the 17th in Copenhagen. Flying there on the day of what is your international flight is a risk that could be very expensive if there is some delay getting there and having to buy 4 tickets at 'walk up' rates.

Why not spend the time in Copenhagen?

Hi there,
Thank you for responding. Yes, I also came to the conclusion that we should go to Copenhagen at least the day before in case of cancelled flights and such. So, now I need to decide whether we spend 2 1/2 days in Munich and fly to Copenhagen on Tuesday night or Copenhagen Tuesday morning. We will have already spent a half day and night in Copenhagen on the front-end of the trip.
Guessing we'll go to Neushwanstein Castle one day and need to book those tix asap.
Any suggestions on best or quickest way to get to Munich from Interlaken? Would it be to go through Zurich? I still need to research that and which trains. (looks like it can be a bit confusing since there are many different types of trains). Thanks again.

Actually, the fastest way is a bus from Zurich.
The best way to Neuschwantein is with a Bayern Ticket. The only thing you need to book ahead is the tour time at Neuschwanstein.
You might, if Neuschwanstein is a must do, skip going to Munich and go straight to Fuessen and spend 2 nights. Monday you can do the castles, relax, then Tuesday morning, go to Munich airport and fly to Copenhagan.
