Hi just wondering has anyone been to these factory outlets or is it worth the time going there rather then shop in the city itself?

Wertheim and Ingolstadt factory outlets are the same, operated by the same chain. They want their open-air malls to look as American as possible with nothing too German inside. Much better than those are the ones in Zweibrücken (Germany) or Roppenheim (Alsace, just across the Rhine river from Karlsruhe-Baden-Baden airport).

I've been to the Wertheim outlets once. Other than the buildings looking far more decorative, I would have to agree with Andreas that the merchandise seemed as "American" as possible, and not even that cheap. I preferred clothes shopping at Galleria, Müller, or Karstadt. The only reason to visit would be if you're driving in that direction along A3 anyway- the outlets are right off the Autobahn.
