Everyone needs a good laugh sometimes

VGN in Bavaria had a programming error today for its automatic ticket machines and was selling student semester tickets for 2.07 Euros instead of 207 Euros. Oops!

Headline: NUREMBERG/ERLANGEN - On Monday evening, unusual scenes took place at the Nuremberg and Erlangen main stations: masses of students queued up at the Deutsche Bahn ticket machines to get a particularly cheap semester ticket.

Funny, but those students were quite silly. The decisive factor is the price mentioned in the printed VGN tariff regulations and there it was correct. Only the DB ticket machines were programmed incorrectly. Misprinted tickets are simply invalid. Too bad about the time spent waiting in line.

Reminded me of when a computer glitch priced some airline tickets at $100 for international flights. Systems are only as good as the people programing them.
