I have scheduled the Europe in 21 days tour and was wondering if the bus goes through Munich before heading to Dachau for the concentration camp tour. I am having heartfelt reservations about seeing the horrors there and would rather stay in Munich for the day if that is possible. Is anyone familiar with the route we will be taking?
Dachau is a suburb of Munich. The question is whether it would let you off and pick you up later.
Well I was wondering if we traveled through Munich at all, but I suppose your correction is valid.
animal,
im not familar with the tour you took, but i did the tour there and i have done other tours in other places and would have to believe that you are not required to do anything you dont want to.
if you dont want to tour Dachau, then stay on the bus. Of course ask them and let them know how you feel about it.
There is also a giftshop/bathroom/movie/restaurant there where the gate is and most of the tours gather.
Just so you know, they dont make you do anything like the previous people that ran the place. You can stay outside of the buildings if you want and just pickup the tour on the way out.
just my opinion, its understandable how you feel, but some people rather believe it didnt happen. id rather look at the facts and decide for myself.
happy trails.
Hi
We did the 21 day tour this past July. Absolutely awesome experience for us and I hope for you as well. We did not go through Munich. As a another suggested you could simply spend time in the restaurant area and not enter Dachau. The weather was lovely and I saw people sitting outside the restaurant area (which is outside the gates of Dachau) which you may wish to do. The tour was very emotional but every person had the option to leave if it became too much. Not everyone chose to go through the crematorium for example. I would suggest discussing your concerns with your RS BOE tour guide a day or two before and see what he/she suggests. When we left Dachau we headed to Ruette and enjoyed a time of distressing on the luge run.
I wish you the best in your travels.
