Ettaler or Dorf Strasse, Oberammergau

Hi All,

I wonder which one, Ettaler or Dorf Strasse , is better to be visited first. I'd arrive there on Saturday around 17pm so stores in Dorfstrasse including the woodcarving stores are closed already. But googling at the fresco houses , there seems to be a lot more in Dorfstrasse / Dorfplatz area?

Also is the riverbank of Ammersee good? I see this pic from 1900 w/ crystal blue water but looking from gmap, it's now brown dirt. It's a bit of a detour if I want to go by Ammersee from Dorfstrasse to Ettaler or vice versa.

Are you visiting Germany or conducting a military invasion? Oberammergau is a small town and does not require a tactical sightseeing approach. Just enjoy wandering around the town.

You don't need to worry so much about prioritizing what to see. Oberammergau is very small and perfect for just wandering. There are fresco houses all through the town and the Ammer Riverbank is a lovely place to wander.

i was initially worried that the sunset would catch in first before I finish wandering around. I might start around 17-18pm. and the next day early in the morning got appointment booked already in Neuschwanstein.
