Entry Point from Amsterdam to Rhine Valley that has good rental car

Hi,

what is the best entry point for rental car in Rhine Valley or surrounding towns if we take the ICE from Amsterdam? there's an ICE service to Koblenz (transit via Dusseldorf). I could see there's a rental car by SIXT for EUR57/day (I just need an automatic car and the aircon :D) in Koblenz. Is the company and the rental price good?

I just think that Koblenz is pretty small compared to Cologne or Bonn where I thought to be my initial entry point. Perhaps, in Cologne or Bonn or bigger cities would give more rental companies options. Also, I'd be there on July which is one of the highest season.

Also, if i take my luggages with me to Burg Eltz inside the car rather than dropping them first in the hotel (we plan to stay at Boppard or St Goar). Would it be safe? i think the towns and villages in Germany should be fine?

TIA

Sounds good. I've used Sixt before and will use them again this summer. Check the price on Orbitz. I have sometimes found I get a better price with them than by going direct.

Sixt is a good company. Rental price per day usually depends on how many days you are keeping the car. I would expect Cologne to have plenty of car rental options, too, and direct ICE trains from Amsterdam every two hours.

Leaving luggage in the car is always a risk, that only requires one thief to spoil your day, but I probably would take that chance at Burg Eltz. Keep real valuables on your person.
