I'd like to assign a couple of days to this area, maybe do some biking if the wind and weather are agreeable. Does anyone here have any tips to share... which towns to visit or stay in, prime places for modest bike rides? Thanks.
Ems is a very long river. Can you specify the destinated area a little bit more?
I guess you know that you can find good hiles and bike trips on Komoot.
A tip in this area is the Meyer Werft building very large cruise ships (visitor center).
Thanks. I'm pretty flexible. Will be entering Germany by rail from NL, possibly near Bad Bentheim, or possibly further north after leaving Groningen, so I think anything north of Bad Bentheim could be in my sights,
I cannot contribute much to that region. On tourism website of Lower Saxony will find inspiring tips for Emsland and County of Bentheim.
Good luck and have a nice journey.
Thank you for the input, MarkK.
Ems river is long but have checked Papenburg and the Mayer Werft which can be visited
They built Cruise Ships
Once they they go along the Ems River to the North sea
Quite a few youtube videos on cycling there. All in German I think. ‘Klaus fahrt Rad’ is the one I have watched
Appreciate all the input. At this point I've learned there's enough to see/do that we will need more time in this area - maybe a week or longer - than we actually have available on this year's trip. Ahh, the more I trim the bucket list, the fuller it gets! I'll see about this sometime in 2025. Thanks again.
